Emile:
1 Corinthians 4:8. Paul reproved those who held the viewpoint that the Kingdom was already here. This discussion we are having was already settled by the apostle Paul. Some in Corinth were saying that they were already Kings but Paul stated that this was not the case although he wished it to be! He was still waiting to enter that Kingdom.
Rev 12:10, 12 shows that the establishment of God's Kingdom is associated with the hurling of Satan out of heaven. This had not occurred at the time of the rebellion in Eden, as is shown in Job chapters 1,2. Revelation was recorded in 96 C.E., and Revelation 1:1 shows that it deals with events in the future.
2 Pet. 3:9 shows that God is not slow but patient with respect to his promise. The promise of his coming: 2Pe.3:3,4 "Knowing this first, that there should come in the last days scoffers, walking after their own lusts [RS, following their own passions; LB, laugh at the truth.] And saying, Where is the promise of his coming? for since the fathers fell asleep, all things continue as they were from the beginning of the creation."
Peter showed that Jesus coming was going to coincide with the last days which harmonizes with the prophecies concerning the Kingdom in Daniel and Revelation.
In fact, Daniel's prophecies tell us the time period when the Kingdom would establish itself. These prophecies are quickly understood when we use the Bible to unlock their meaning. The prophecies clearly point to a real tangible government. |
