This IS happening.

I mentioned on a previous post that I bought some rural farm land.

I am in the process of building an accessory structure that will have water/bath/elec/etc - I pulled all permits and fees.

I do not live on the property (or actually in the same state).

I went back to the property this past week to do some work and noticed that my gate lock had been CUT. The lock is a damn Kryptonite motorcycle lock - general bolt cutters won't do it.

First thought it to be theft (as the property is pretty rural), - but long story short - found out it was the local inspector "performing a random inspection" to validate that I had accurately estimated my tax value of the structure.

UFB - I went crazy on the inspector's office about not contacting me/cutting my lock/etc - and since this is rural property there is a good chance you get shot just "walking" on to someone's land.

Their reply to me - "Yea, we know. That is why the sheriff goes with the Inspector"

Again - UFB
