But they haven't hit anything. Man-pads are an extremely expensive, high maintenance item. These aircraft's biggest advantage is not the one you had with the Sky-raider in Nam. It's that they can loiter much longer at say, 10K, out of man-pad range, and deliver the new accurate bombs that can be made even more accurate with laser designators for the final impact from 10K. An SO Team can have them overhead for hours. A A couple could all day coverage. Waiting to deliver the equiv of a 105mm Howitzer shell on a minutes notice.

This is why SO wants them. The Warthog doesn't have these kind of legs. Plus, if they feel a Man-pad is not a problem, they can do low-level strafing.
