a19, The AIG bonus issue is a political hot potato more than anything because (1) AIG is a big campaign contributor to so many, and (b) AIG's tentacles in the worldwide derivative time bomb extend everywhere. The outrage from all sides is the equivalent of shock that gambling is occuring in Ric's Cafe. Are the AIG folks taking advantage? Absolutely, as was likely when they were bailed out repeatedly.
