So soldiers who work in the private sector and have private insurance should go back to the VA for health care?

To do as you're suggesting will make it that much more difficult for vets who have been injured in their service to find employment. Not only would it be dumb, it would be shameful to make vets -- or in your question, prospective employers for them -- have to pay for care of injuries sustained while fighting for our country.

If a person has great insurance and they prefer to use it over the VA, fine. But Obama's position would essentially hand this responsibility for paying these bills over to the soldiers who fought for our country.
