Wednesday March 18, 4:03 pm ET

Polysilicon producers for solar and other industries can benefit from ABB's expert power supply solutions
NEW BERLIN, WI, March 18 /CNW Telbec/ - ABB, the leading power and automation technology company, announced that its Advanced Power Electronics business in North America designs and manufactures both Trichlorosilane (TCS) and Chemical Vapor Deposition (CVD) reactor type power supply equipment for the polysilicon industry.

"ABB can provide everything between the electrical supply network and the chemical process reactors, including primary switchgear, transformers, power supplies, reactor bus, and electrode connections," says André Steinberg, ABB's Business Unit Manager, High Power Rectifiers & Advanced Power Electronics, North America. "As the established leader in developing special power supplies for various industries and applications, we are unique among power supply vendors to be a total power electronics system supplier."

As part of ABB's strategy to be the complete systems provider of power supply equipment for the polysilicon industry, ABB's solutions are often based on integrating standard, proven ABB product building blocks into customized solutions to meet specific customer application requirements.

ABB's power supply units can be complete packaged systems, including the main input transformer, power electronic assemblies and local controls all-in-one enclosure. ABB will work with the end-user to achieve optimal equipment design for their specific plant. The control has been designed to offer good power factor and low harmonics to the supply network. Any additional filtering that is required will also be developed and supplied.

ABB (www.abb.com) is a leader in power and automation technologies that enable utility and industry customers to improve performance while lowering environmental impact. The ABB Group of companies operates in around 100 countries and employs approximately 120,000 people. The company's North American operations, headquartered in Raleigh, North Carolina, employ about 15,000 people in 20 manufacturing and other major facilities.
