I do believe that I had forgotten what it was like to have a White House in which the dominant emotion is something other than paranoia. features.csmonitor.com It appears that history will record this date as the day the United States of America... and most of the world... sat up straight at the economic poker table and went all in. If a bank can't make it under these conditions it must have been run by 1st degree morons and/or South American drug cartels. features.csmonitor.com Just watch what happens to the non-AIG recipients of Bailout Bucks tomorrow when Mr. Miller's little baby is delivered to their in-boxes: sfgate.com To paraphrase a certain former inhabitant of the White House: "*Pretty soon, the people who knocked these [banks] down will hear you!*" This whole AIG "fiasco" is being played like a drum by Obama. He is simply refusing to let it distract the admin. They are not giving in to any paranoid and wasteful defensive wheel spinning. The usual suspects are either going to have to cave to the "mob"... or come to the defense of their big buck Bailout contributors. Either way... they will be caught in an avalanche of lobbying on a matter that Obama cares comparatively little about and has deftly sidestepped as he moves on to the next economic "hurdle" in this 2 year sprint. Fear is never the best motivation for an adult. If I was a Republican in Congress I believe it would be time to start using the old "inside voice," and start thinking about 2016 and a world in which Obama has rewritten the play book... And the very first order of business would be to find a way to create a base that finds its motivation in an emotion that starts with something other than the letter "F." Can't wait to see the regulatory changes these guys come up with. But ultimately the method by which they get the change may be far more "entertaining" than the actual substance. <Hoo><Hoo><Haa> 0\|0
