So then why didn't the Dems use the filibuster as extensively during the 6 years from 2001-7 when the GOP held majorities in both houses and had a GOP President? The Dems consider the Bush administration and GOP to be very far right and out of touch with the American people.

The Republicans never rammed through so many extensive changes in such a short time.

The Democrats probably can't and maybe don't want to keep up this pace, but they have been quite radical for such a short period.
