Len Walker of Cougar Energy (Australia) claims that well head gas cost for UCG syngas is substantially lower than natural gas. He is claiming less than $1.50 Australian per GJ. 1 GJ is roughly the energy content of 1 Mcf.

Len Walker has credibility in my book. Crusty old guy with lots of UCG experience and a track record.

His Cougar Energy seems to have the most realistic plan to commercialize UCG in Australia. They are just using the gas for a power plant. They think the grandiose plans of Linc and Carbon Energy for GTL plants are too risky for a first project.
