I guess I figured you were in an area that had better schools. but overall, yes, you are right. but... when I was a child here in the 60's, ahem, the teacher's word was law. if I was actually right my mother would back me up, but it was understood that when the teacher called the class to order, children hushed and started to learn. now.... me being me, i was rather in trouble a lot. but in a 'light' way. and actually I moved from Texas to California between 4th and 5th grade and was shocked to find out what CA kids did not know. Not only could I already read near a so-called 12th grade level, I could do the math, except for fractions - never could figure them things. but it was expected. you shut up when the teacher calls order. and you start to learn. by 4th grade you can read a serios book. you can do all you math tables. period. then go from there. what has happened? if I talked out of place with a teacher or fought etc, I'd catch it at home. at home is where they first teach a child it is thier job to learn. you get all summer and weekends to play. that's enough.
