Yes, I don't think money is the major determinant of the career decisions of most people. I know plenty of people who have left high paying corporate jobs they hated in order to do something much more pleasant and rewarding.




There are lots of people I know who've left the corporate life to get MFA's in writing. They now teach English and creative writing at local universities.

My husband, a boatbuilder with a PhD in philosophy, just received a CV from a recent graduate of the Maine boatbuilding school-- the guy has a PhD in Russian and taught it at university.
