Good trip to Asia on Singapore Airlines. Learned much: 1. Was given the option on Singapore Airlines to view/listen to (via a personal screen) movies, audio options, games and gambling. Noted on the plane that about 80% preferred the flics, 10% the audio only, 5% the games and 5% the gambling. No Internet option was available. 2. Neither LGE nor ZE is a TV player in Asia outside of Korea. The Japs have most covered... 3. Wide-screen and digital TVs (16:9 ratio) are the new vogue in Asia...priced at a considerable premium. 4. TVs soon will be replaced by a lap-top/set-top box device allowing instant access to: hundreds of thousands of VODs (video on demand flics/TV sitcomes, etc); audio on demand recordings, Internet access, gaming and educational programs all being shown on wall-hanging, thin screens or bedroom/den smaller units. Summary: ZE and LGE have the critical tech and distribution abilities to lead this paradigm shift within the US. My bet is that they will pull it off......
