Sometimes delaying a decision until next week is better than making a bad decision this week. If Geithner has to resign it will be with a significant loss of political capital for Obama.

Did Obama bother to ask Volcker for a suggestion? If he had, I doubt it would have been Geithner.

Obama seemed pretty intent on bringing a Republican into his cabinet (Judd Gregg as Sec. of Commerce being the attempt). May I suggest that Larry Lindsey would have filled this requirement and likely would have been a much better Treasury Secretary than Geithner is.
