Yeah, what a difference a decade makes. Now all the sane advice has been replaced by absolute insanity. The MAJORITY of financially interested people I talk to are now talking about how helicopter drops of $10K per person would get us out of this mess by jacking up real estate prices and increasing demand.

My most cogent argument, I think, is just that there's no such thing as a free lunch. We have a systemic problem. We must correct it. Handouts that don't aid in bringing the systemic change we need merely spread out how long it will take, delay the pain, and ensure that we'll be saddled with that much MORE debt service to deal with on the other side of this morass.

Everybody wants to avoid the medicine.
