Okay, sex education 101----- Maybe you saw the same on the evening news last evening. In South Africa, an interview was done with local officials and also with a black South African man. First, the official said that So. African men were infecting the women and children with AIDS. She said it was cultural in that the men expect a woman to be 'available'---no questions ask. Then to the So. African man-----and the answer was yes he expected to have sex when he wanted. And, would he wear a condom------the answer was an emphatic 'no'. What I didn't catch was whether or not he was HIV positive. The cynical part of me says forget trying to save them----sometimes people have to die in their own way. The religious part of me says accept what we are seeing----a plague that was predicted in Revelations------sores on their bodies (which is ultimately one of the end stages of AIDS). The practical part says stop wasting time manufacturing condos for people too selfish and irresponsible to use them. And, yes sending tupperwrare, washing machines and refrigerators would certainly save more lives.
