From the onset, it appeared that SS payouts under the Let Wall Street Cheat You plan would have been only 66% of the former promise. However, factor in the recent 40% decline (which might have been postponed a few months)(and we'd now see retirees of my generation already looking at about 40% SS payments as compared to the previous promise.

Yes, the tide turned just enough on that thugocracy that the SS fund did not get CDO'ized by GS and sold through Iceland just before it all popped.
