Who knows. Foreign monetization played an important part.

+ 502.798 Billion YOY Treasury purchases.
- 62.659 Billion YOY Agency sales.

Naturally, the sales escalated since September or so, and
went negative YOY fast.

The Fed has been monetizing agencies since December

As you can see, there is a soup for "quantitative easing".
So far it includes Treasuries, agencies, and MBS <G>

MBS is huge in particular:

Gross purchases from March 12 through March 18: $28,195 million
Net purchases from March 12 through March 18: $19,675 million
