Nothing idiotic about his statement. The whole bailout of AIG is being bungled from the top down. Key Democrats were all for the bonuses before they were against them, leading to this hostile political climate. That's one way to jerk around the very people you're entrusting with the financial future of Wall Street.


Bungled hardly? The smart thing was to let AIG pay its people according to the contracts established in the first place. Populist politics said otherwise and of course, Congress fell for it. If there was bungling, it was on the political level, and had little to do with the country's economic problems.
