How do we know that mutual fund families aren't shorting stocks that they are holding for investors. I mean the big families like Vanguard and Fidelity. I received a prospectus that mentioned the fund family would and could loan out shares that they hold for investors "for a fee".

Talk about a conflict of interest.

You can change the uptick rule all you want but as long as fund families are doing this they will continue to rape the retirement of the baby boomers. They are raping the fact that they know most boomers will stay invested, because that is the only chance they have of retiring.
