Why make it easy for these nutcases and unfriendly nations? Why provide all of the information possible on the internet?

Yes, I think Google needs to look at this question from the viewpoint of England.

At a personal level it is an invasion of my or anyone's personal privacy in America for Google to use their technology to invade our privacy.<<

Responding to your last point first, the outsides of our homes aren't private, so I don't think there's any invasion of privacy there.

As for the security angle, if people want to fly planes into buildings, there are already lots and lots of maps they can use. There really is nothing stopping them, and I don't see that Google is making it any easier.
