Can't resist a straw man argument can you? There are obvious downsides to printing money, which is why governments use it as a last resort. However, one thing it doesn't do is contribute to the debt as you are pretending.

Personally, I'd preferred it if we were moving towards a balanced budget or even paying down the debt. But, Smirk made sure we couldn't do that. Given that it isn't real likely that we can sell many more Treasuries and other bonds, the only thing we can do is run the presses. Well, not strictly true. We could raise the rates on the bonds like we did during the 1970s. But, that crowded out corporate bonds, which reduced the investments businesses could make and that contributed to the stagnation in business. They apparently have learned from that particular mistake.
