Chinese refined zinc import in February up by 518%MoM

steelguru.com

According to the statistics of the Customs, China imported 77,200 tonnes of refined Zinc in February up by 518%MoM reaching the record high since 2003. While the accumulative import volume in January and February reached 90,000 tonnes up by 643%YoY.

CBI China believes the wide price difference between the domestic and international market and the soft Zinc supply of the home producers are the main reasons behind the refined Zinc dramatic import hike. The purchases made by the State Reserve Bureau are believed to tighten the resources supply.

Based on the current situation and the wide ratio of price difference between home and abroad, CBI predicts the refined Zinc import would continue to see increase in March with the anticipation of 100,000 tonnes.
