This whole mess started with the housing bubble, then everything else followed in a domino effect... now, the housing problem is much improved, i.e., mortgage applications are up 11.3% last month, housing starts and new home sales are also up better than 5%, all the world governments are infusing tons of money, banks are lending again, we're not going into a depression, these markets will be much higher by year end... unemployment will lag, as always, as will some regions of the country, your friend may be in one of those lagging regions... GZ
