Sure, but you could also give examples of the opposite; companies with promising technology that has withered on the vine. If you are lucky enough to have backed the right horses ten years ago, then sure, you could have cashed in your msft, intel and oracle stock five years ago, retired to your passion and not concerned yourself with trying to find the "next big thing".
