Do you think that it's maybe about creating another industry so that those who already have power and money can have more?

There was an attempt a few years ago when everyone was on the Save the Earth bandwagon for awhile. Fountains at the Music Center were turned off. The Griffith Park fountain was turned off. Timers were put on lights in corporate buildings. Motion sensors were installed and lights went off automatically when there was no movement. I remember having to wave my arm every once in awhile because the lights would go off if I didn't. People formed car pools and rode buses. Gift certificates were issues to those in the car pools. Hemp tote bags were all the rage. Flow control shower heads were installed. Bricks were put in toilet tanks. New more efficient water saving toilets came on the market.

It petered out and people returned to doing what they always had been doing.
