It is a good practice to start with the CEO. But having kept the bankruptcy option open, Obama is also sending a message to everybody, union and management alike, that we the American people will not tolerate any more nonsense from either one of them, if we are to bail them out.

This is surely going to be a win-win situation for all because it requires everyone to give up something. The auto industry has to be saved, not the management and the unions.

I applaud this another first by a US President. Tell a private sector CEO to resign. Who is next. Hopefully, the President of the Auto Workers' union.
