Can you imagine the navy fighting a major land campaign in a place like Afghanistan or anywhere else for that matter?.

Come on, UW, he means no such thing. He is talking about the Navy is simply one of our three major kinetic forces. Land, Sea and Air. A lot of congressmen want the Navy to consist of only Aircraft carrier groups instead of smaller, more offshore vessels. Some "Big War" types want us to be prepared for a "Midway" type action against China. Nonsense!
