Glencore shutting down a mine is both good and bad news for other base metal miners. Less supply yes, but Glencore is a well run company and I suspect earn as much or more from trading as they do by operating their operations around the world. This news suggests to me they are not forecasting materially higher prices anytime soon. I weight Glencore actions much higher than any broker research or market forecaster. I'll be watching for an announcement to re-open... YDD
