The only analogy I can think of--and it's no better than most analogies--is the way that Lyndon Johnson, after campaigning against Goldwater's hawkish Vietnam rhetoric, turned right around and with enthusiastic Congressional backing led the country right into the Vietnam War.

Obama has never learned much about economics and is relying on people he thinks are good advisors. Who would imagine that the former chair of the Princeton Department of Economics would deliberately take actions to seriously damage the value of the country's currency? And apparently nobody pointed out to Obama how disastrously wrong Geithner's views were of world financial developments.

Obama is like a French politician of a hundred years ago who thinks he has to listen to his generals because they are the military experts.
