Her nomination would prove the irrelevancy of the republican party.

An interesting notion, could you explain why you say that? TIA

______________

Glad to. The Palin phenomenon of last year where she was plucked out of relative obscurity by McCain and suddenly annointed as the new, family values, conservative principles darling of that wing of the party just shows how bereft the republican party is....IF she maintains any kind of viability.

Have you ever heard her give a detailed, reasoned explanation of our economic problems and what needs to be done? I'm not talking Katie Couric nonsense, I mean sustained policy positions, backed by budget numbers and defended in debate? I have plenty of connections to Alaska and i have watched her debates during the governor's race and read her State of the State messages. Empty suit does her more justice than she deserves.

Have you seen anything she has written? On any subject? An op-ed on education, health, economy? It was one thing to hand out money from oil revenues in a state that lived off the federal dole....but now times are harder up there and the decisions much tougher. Read what her OWN republican legislators are saying about her lately. Her position on the stimulus can't be understood...she will take it. She won't. She wants a legislative hearing. She backs out of a scheduled conference call with the legislature. On and on.

She has a real problem with the truth. From the "bridge to nowhere" lies to the latest finger pointing on the stimulus. She blames everybody, everybody, but herself for the problems of the campaign. Latest: Nobody she was willing or able to pray with before the VP debate. What, exactly, does that mean? Or say about her attitude toward the people around her?

As to electability, she has none. Her negatives are extremelyt high. Her husband was a member of a political party has favored Alaska seceding from the Union. Really, you don't think that wouldn't cause a few problems? She is the republican the democrats would most want to run against in 2012......and a weakened Obama would think he had died and gone to heaven if Palin were the one he had to run against. It would be a dream for the democrats.

Romney, Gingrich, even Huckabee, have far better bona fides than does Palin.

Bill and others who think I am "obssesed" with her miss the point. She is dangerous as a serious candidate for any national office. She cannot win. (check any polls...and she has more baggage than any other candidate, which would be an endless distraction.

These are serious times. Deadly serious. There is no way America would elect Sarah Palin. She would not, on her best day, get 46% of the national vote. Her former running mate can't stand her. She is not the future of the republican party...at least I hope not. If it is to be a serious party, offering serious alternatives to the vast democratic machine, they need someone strong, on point, capable of communicating the messages and staying on point.

People say she has popularity in the 60s in her home state. So does Obama, in the whole country ..and Palin's popularity nationally is much, much lower.

She is not now and never would be, the one to effectively carry a message of smaler government. If she were somehow nominated, it would prove to a majority of Americans that the republicans were not serious about trying to return to executive power.
