Tench: You're right. Scared that they couldn't rely on its usual monopolistic tactics, Intel launched the Conroe development project, and the rest is history.

Elmer: The Lawsuit was filed in June 2005. In July 2006 Intel introduced C2D. Shortly thereafter AMD began it's uninterrupted string of losing quarters. In this case you're right, Intel did it.

Your memories are a touch selective.

What's your explanation for the big influx of OEM support, eventually culminating with Dell, after AMD's lawsuit was launched?
