It's hard to tell what they're up to. At a minimum, I would think that the alliance would offer new sales outlets for NovAtel.

It might also give Marconi an opportunity to get a closer look at NovAtel, how their products and corporate cultures interface, etc., possible leading to Marconi taking a stake in NovAtel or even an outright buy-out. If there are indeed discussions taking place, the company could not very well discuss this during a conference call, which accounts for the vagueness of their comments.

Only time will tell.
