Elmer, Intel as it stands today is a creation government intervention in the markets - torn from IBM by the FTC.

If you were to hand over to AMD Intel's $40+ Billion in criminally gained profits from abuse of monopoly, and remove them from Intel, you'd see the impact of relative resource levels on capital intensive companies.

If Intel hadn't sabotaged the launch of Opteron through a series of criminal acts, AMD's profits would have far higher (and Intel's lower) such that AMD would have been able to fund accelerated development, shipping products sooner and making profits instead of losses.

The new nehalem chips looks like excellent work by no-doubt decent engineers at Intel, regardless of the fact that their many man-years of effort was funded by criminal acts.

Shifting to these products would be an easy decision if not for the barrage of reminders these boards provide of what a bunch of vicious thieves constitute the culture of some of Intel.

Is buying products and services from such an organization the best use of your tax dollars? Or would it be a long term mistake, like buying garbage hauling services from the mob (and funding that organization's growth).
