I am not in a big corporate firm. not many of those here. but I have definitely heard of the stories the article talks about.

I never understood the penchant for big corporations to deal with big firms and their bloated budgets. who after all pays for those huge salaries and the fancy offices?

plus, most associates are useless except as billing machines for their first two years of practice. those are mighty expensive billing machines at 160K a year.

but still, clients are increasingly slow pay. tough all over but my guess is that the behemoth firms are really suffering. the small and nimble have a lot mre flexibility.

glad I am on what I hope is the downslope of my career.
