My nagging concern still is what about post-menopausal women and their calcium need.

I think that it would depend on one's risk for osteoporosis, heart and kidney disease, etc. Everyone is not the same. I was already post-menopausal when I quit taking calcium supplements. I don't don't have small or fragile bones. My blood calcium is normal. As with vitamin D, rather than take some standard amount, we can test to see how we are doing and supplement accordingly, seems to me.
