As noted above hibernia is another excellent choice i know one or two people that are betting big bucks on hibernia as a takeover candidate ,it has branches all over louisiana .for the local banks exposed just to the acadiana area lba (symbol ana on the amex,which my wife owns and bought as an ipo a year ago is good, teche savings (tsh) whose branches are in lafayette ,st mary parish and morgan city has good exposure and iberia savings bank are all good though they have all had good runs and trade around 24times earnings but they are all growing like crazy right now.a lot of wealth being created in acadiana is being recylced into the home business hence the banks are doing real well as well as the consolidation going on with two local banks first commerce and premier having been taken over by banc one. the investment club that i participate in owned fcom and is trying to descide which local bank to buy ,it also owns global industries which is an awesome oil service company whose hq is in lafayette,its had a great run but is a very diversified and quality company and should do well in the long run.arh
