The easiest way to eliminate a habit, such as eating wheat, sugar, corn potatoes and rice, is to "zero" them out. If you cut down, your subconscious does a number on you for a longer time.

That's easier when you are in complete control of what you eat and when. It is not that easy when you live with other people. My wife is generally onboard about not over-eating carbs, but not about the "zero" idea.

Kids are another complication. One of them must be in the middle of a growth spurt, and is (uncharacteristically) always hungry. Considering how picky she is, and that she eats only so much protein (meat) during one meal, it is not easy easy to eliminate a calorie source that tey like...
