I haven't found find anything anywhere other than TYP suggesting treating TSH down to 1.

Dr Davis prescibes to reduce it to that based on studies that show it's worth and clinical evidence in his practice that it works. Your average conventional Doctor is ten years behind on this issue and many other things proposed here. Dr Davis's comment on thyroid is:

"Be sure thyroid function is perfect. We define "perfect" as a TSH level of 1.0 mIU or lower and normal body temperatures."
