I have no problem at all with doing something to give everyone some access to health insurance and eliminating pre-existing condition blackballing.

What is insane it to throw out the best health care system in the world in order to get it. You can pretty easily fix what is wrong with American health care without trying to replace it with socialized medicine.

Government is inherently bad at this as is evidenced by the train wreck known as "Medicare" -- and moreso, by "Medicaid". They just cannot do it effectively.

Part D, which I opposed, has been as big a government success as you can get -- and it it solely because of what Z and other Left-wingnuts claim is its failure -- the ban on government negotiating directly with drug companies. Had this provision not been insisted upon, Part D would be the same kind of failure we have with Parts A and B.
