"Bush kissed and held hands with the king of Saudi Arabia. I wasn't outraged.......

Anyone educated enough to understand the cultural differences should have been proud of Bush for his demonstration of cultural sensitivity.

Does it matter that he looked like he was enjoying himself immensely? ;-)

In Saudi Arabia men are able to spend time with each other, tell a friend you love him, walk together holding hands, kiss on the cheek as a greeting etc without the weird stigma of having sexual orientation questioned. We have that weirdness because of all our internal conflicts with the sexual liberation movement. The cost to us has been the loss of a concept of brotherly love expressed in comfortable non-sexual ways.

Men in SA also have sex with each other before marriage because sex before marriage with a woman is considered verboten. Saudi women are not allowed to leave the house in SA without their faces covered and can't drive cars. There are many customs that different between the two cultures. So what?

Does the president need to act out all the differences between our respective cultures? Only if he or she feels comfortable with the difference. Its his choice to make IMO.

Bowing may be simply seen as a courtesy afforded by title. It is a gesture of respect at the least and a display of submission at the most. Saudis don't bow to others and don't respect others who bow to them.</I<>

Not true. Saudis do bow to the king. It was a courtesy that Obama chose to acknowledge. A weaker president might have felt uncomfortable doing so. Obama is not a weak president. Obama goes out of his way to be courteous such as acknowledging and thanking the lowest among us for their help. I see it as a very positive trait. Something Jesus would encourage.

It was a mistake that wont be overlooked.

This 'mistake' as you put it will not be overlooked by the petty members of the party of no. Its to be expected.
