First, I don't think he's clueless. Maybe in that one area, he's holding out blind hope. But don't dismiss the other 99% of his treatise because of his *slight* hope.

And second, I predict that within a year, Obama *is* going to want real change. But it may be too late by then to avoid the cost of not seeking it sooner.

Speaking of the former, I was in Chicago this past week, and I was struck by the sheer number of trucks heading into the city constantly to feed and cloth the population. I can't help but think that sort of 'empire' is doomed, much like the Anasazi a thousand years ago which collapsed when they could no longer feed a centralized population.

Manhattan... ditto. Vegas & Phoenix... ditto, except constrained water supplies may get them first.

But back to "clueless" -- what he's been forecasting I think cannot be discounted over the next twenty or so years: a collapse of the suburban lifestyle.
