thank you!

she practiced for untold hours and i cannot deny that at least for me, the hardest part was always the 'sour notes'.....i know that sounds terrible... doesn't it? it's hard to explain the 'relief' i would feel whenever she finished a piece without any very um, notable mistakes....

she started her lessons at age 4 and studied all the way through high school....i wanted her to continue through college, but she just decided to 'put it away' for a while.....and now she has resumed her training so many years later....(she found a great teacher....one of the pianists for the atlanta philharmonic...very challenging for her)

which reminds me of an interview i watched between malcolm gladwell and charlie rose on his book "outliers: the story of success"

really fascinating stuff....and he goes into some detail about what you touched on about parental roles and basically the combination of "luck" (you cannot choose your parents) and perseverance....he talks about mozart quite a bit in this interview, so i think you will enjoy it...he also points out that based on some studies, it takes about 10,000 hours of practiced activity to become proficient....based on my daughter's experience, i'd say that is about right.....
