I 'explain that' by pointing out that there was a REALLY, REALLY BAD Supreme court decision in (when was it? 1971 I think? Or was it 1969?????) that *Expanded* the power of the federal government beyond all measure by interpreting the Commerce Clause so broadly that, literally, almost EVERYTHING became 'interstate commerce' and so subject to federal regulation.

Probably one of the three worst Supreme Court decisions of all time....
