Right on. They're not offered the reality-based choice for a number of reasons. Bush didn't offer it, and neither will Obama.
Now if you want to speculate on those reasons (oligarchies, conspiracies, elites, whatever) that's a different matter.
But perhaps it's irrelevant, because throughout history, mankind has always chosen to delay the pain, and pass it on. That's what the original post shows, and that's what history teaches us.
Those who are preaching economic virtue are the same as clergy advocating life without sin: the congregation will never practice what's in the sermon. Ain't gonna happen; never has, never will.
But let's enjoy the sermonizing for its entertainment value.
