Torus; Salting is not as precise as you think it to be. If you want to emulate a natural value scatter, the method I described is quite adequate.An inspection of the BRE-X values shows such a scatter, up and down, but generally showing good values. However it would not suffice for emulating trace element haloes, for example, where a gradient over a distance is sought. I have not read the books either, but I have glanced at them on the shelves to read a portion. Bill
