i had comcast for twenty years.. a very unhappy person. that thing in the back yard standing up is not very friendly looking. comcast was not reliable.. strong winds and they cable went out and my pc too. most thunders storms and snow storms cable went out. i have fios now going on four years, not one time have i been down yet experienced ten power failures some up to ten hours with peco lines down or transformer blown. i fire up my generator and my tv , pc back on line. i now have hd channels with fios i cannot get over the reception and that with an rca 42" $700 set bought on black friday.

Yes, i have a box at the foot of my driveway or between neighbor and mine, it is flush with the ground and about three feet deep. i do not remember them digging up an asphalt on streets or driveways in our development. they have a scanner that directs the underground hog in the direction they want to dig and it doesn't disturb the tops of soil.. they are digging down about three feet. the lines run into the box set and then a line is run under ground but it is buried cable like your comcast cable to your utilities on the side of your house. mine ran across the lawn and it took some time for grass to fill back in. If comcast had to repair thier cable i would be in the same situation.

the difference in reception on the tv and pc response is night and day between fios and cable. most people in the development have dropped cable and switched to verizon's fios.

It took my neighbor about a year to switch over. he said comcast was giving him so many credits for outages he couldn't afford to switch.. however at the end of the year and being out so much he figured he wasn't saving anything.
