If that was a global average increase and people had no where to run to, then it would be catastrophic.

You act like such a temperature alteration would be unhindered/unbridled by counteractive natural forces. Increases of temperature to that degree would unleash other forces that would quite likely act to retard or thwart such an extreme increase. That's how balancing forces co-exist. Sure.. over long periods of time we see major changes. But then life has the opportunity to adapt and overcome.

And people always have a place to run to.. There are entire regions of this planet that are underpopulated due to prevailing cold temperatures.

Again.. quit your fear mongering.

The human race would shrink in size dramatically. No doubt about it.

Some of your liberal fellow travelers would consider that a very good thing.
