I agree with that in theory, but I don't really buy the oft-repeated refrain of hate the sin, love the sinner. When actions are taken that are hurtful and diminish others for who they are, that is hate- not only of their "sin", but toward them. It will be wonderful when science can definitively say that there is no choice involved in gayness, although I suppose that won't change the hardcore religious belief that it's still wrong or sick.

Again, I have no problem with a church having its own peculiar beliefs. And if they are, as you say, Americans assembling, fine. But when they fund and unite as a church, rightly or wrongly, they become a larger target.
