I, too, am puzzled why the ships allow themselves to be taken over so easily.
I have to believe the word would get out quickly if the ships blew up ANY vessel that approached them without their consent.
What could be easier then firing at a bare-assed naked boat from the safety of a huge ship's deck 30-70 feet above the water line?

The Iraqis had no problem knocking helicopters out of the sky with a few RPGs. A boat should be even easier. I mean a well placed warning rocket ought to give the highjackers pause. If it doesn't, then, kaboom !
