The extensive UK data monitoring efforts seem both dangerously intrusive and of very little usefulness. It seems to be about 1000 more than what should be reasonably required.

However, we should also entertain the idea that there maybe some level of threat that would make these actions appear to be within an order of magnitude (10 x or so) of reasonable.

That there might take the form of the Vikund Quisling threat to Norway, where pro Nazi factions grabbed key posts and facilitated the take over of Norway by the Germans.

A massive fifth column operation.

Can anyone think of such a threat ?
